KRIS MIZZI

“A deceptively gentle storyteller, his songs, like a good book, resonate deeper and deeper with every listen. Simply beautiful”
 - Paul Samwell-Smith (Producer Cat Stevens, Yardbirds, Carly Simon)

Winner of 2017 Troubadour Award as well as 2021 Folk Alliance 'Australian Solo Artist of the Year', Melbourne Singer/Songwriter Kris Mizzi is making waves throughout the Folk circuit across the country.

With a 'strong and gentle' voice, and an art for weaving beauty and truth into the words of each song, Kris Mizzi reaches the hearts of his audiences with performances that are joyful, uplifting, confronting, spiritual, comedic and vulnerable all at once.

He has been described by other musicians as having 'one of Australian Folk Music's finest voices' leaving listeners feeling as though they have experienced something truly special. His current performances at Blue Mountains Folk Festival, Dorrigo Folk and Bluegrass Festival and Maldon Folk Festival  had audiences on their feet.

Kris has spent most of his life dedicated to his work as a songwriter and performer and has been working as a solo artist for over a decade. He is a genuine music lover and this is reflected in his song writing, drawing inspiration from the Contemporary Folk era of the early 1970's. Born in Moe (Gippsland), Victoria, he spent his years balancing life as a travelling musician.

2017 saw him receive the Troubadour Artist of the Year award which assisted with his first solo EP release.  2019 saw Kris release his first full length album. 'Some Other Morning' was the result of a year of work captured in one 10 track strong recording. Featuring songs which have become anthems at various Folk Festivals around the country.

After a recent journey to Nashville, where he collaborated with top American musicians and signed a deal with TEN TEN Publishing, and fresh from showcasing at Ireland’s prestigious folk conference, ‘Your Roots Are Showing’, as well as  performing on the revered 'Danny Kyle Stage' at Galsgows 'Celtic Conncetions', Mizzi continues to leave an indelible mark wherever he plays. Musicians and fans alike have hailed him as a leading voice in Australian folk, delivering performances that feel like intimate, once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Mizzi is currently crafting new material for an international release. Currently working through his busiest touring schedule to date, as well as being part of the 2026 line up for Australia's largest Folk Festivals (Woodford, Port Fairy and The National in Canberra) Mizzi is now poised to make his mark on the global folk music scene.
